Biography

Moshe Fischer

Moshe FisherMoshe Fischer is director of the excavation at Yavneh-Yam, a position he has held since 1992. He also directed the excavations at Khorvat Mazad (1977-1980), Khorvat Zikrin (1982-1990) and Apollonia (2006-present) and co-directed En Boqeq, Mazad Tamar, Qedesh and Roman Roads in Judea. He is a professor of Classical Archaeology at Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Fischer, the head of several archaeological projects, is interested in the art, archaeology and settlement archaeology of Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Palestine. He recently published Yavneh-Yam and their Neighborhood: Studies in Archaeology and History of the Judean Coastal Plain (Tel Aviv, 2005).
